Fight Data Centers Tonight! Town Hall Tomorrow!

Friends and constituents,

Good morning! There’s a full Council meeting tonight, so I wanted to be sure to send out a note about the People’s Caucus.

Tonight, rather than meeting inside the Council Chambers at 6:00 pm, I’m asking my supporters to join the large demonstration outside the building led by Protect Franklin Township, the grassroots group fighting against the proposed data center in Franklin Township. Tonight, we expect Councilor Hart to call down the resolution about the data center to call for a public hearing on September 22nd. This is an important step in killing the project.

We will rally with the larger group and go into the full Council meeting together.

As usual, I’ll have annotated agendas to share. We should have some printed copies, and I am sharing the electronic version here in this email.

And once the full agenda, including background details normally shared only with Councilors, has been released later today, you will be able to read that here in this folder. Transparency is vital for our democracy.

I also wanted to include another formal invitation for District 13’s next Town Hall, which is tomorrow evening at 5:30 pm at the John Boner Neighborhood Center.

The topic of the town hall is affordable housing and security concerns. We should have residents, neighbors, property managers, developers, and representatives from the police department all in the same room, listening to each other and finding ways to help make our neighborhoods safer for everyone. There is a group of seniors who are interested in attending but need some transportation help - so if anyone can either help provide rides between downtown apartment buildings and the JBNC, or chip in a few dollars so we can pay for transport, that would be greatly appreciated!

I'm excited to see many of you tonight and tomorrow!

In love and solidarity,
Jesse
